The Sendai Castle Wall Park
This small but pleasant park is located in the heart of Old Havana, near the channel entrance to the Bay of Havana. It opened in 2001 and is presided by a statue in honor Tsunenaga Hasekura Samurai, the first Japanese to set foot on Cuban soil in 1614. It was built in collaboration with Ikuei Gakuen Sendai Japanese School, in the city of Sendai, Miyagi prefecture. It's a little reminder of the traditional good relations between Cuba and Japan.
The park with Japanese style, decorated with stones and plants from Japan, is a small oasis of tranquility along the busy Avenida del Puerto from Old Havana.
